Testing Extrasensory Perception in Lucid Dreams

FEATURING the Konkoly family and Dash's dad Fred

Some say that we can access information in physical reality from within our dreams. This is a double-blinded test of whether Dash can perceive psychic information from within her dream. Our protocol was as follows:

  1. My family members write a randomly-generated word on a piece of paper and place it under Dash’s bed in a sealed envelope. They also generate 3 other random words for a forced-choice test in the morning.

  2. I wire Dash up to Open BCI. She sleeps normally for the first half of the night, and then at 4am she wakes up, takes Galantamine, and returns to sleep to try to open the envelope in a lucid dream. I monitor her remotely, sending light cues to help her become lucid if necessary.

  3. I wake Dash up if she signals that she’s opened the envelope in a lucid dream to collect her dream report.

  4. Following her dream report, she guesses the word written on the paper in the envelope.

  5. After her free-choice guess, I read Dash the 4 possible words sent to me by my family members, and Dash ranks them in order of which is most likely to be the target given her dream.

  6. Finally, the target is revealed to both Dash and I.

Can Dash access extrasensory perception (or precognition, or mind-reading) in her dream? Watch to find out!
